The Art Speaks For Itself...

I mean, let's be honest, it's borderline "art", BUT it sure as hell cracked me up driving to class and takes a little talent to spray paint something of this size on a main roadway.  I have to give this person a little credit, whether it be for humor, artistic expression, or just guts.  Gotta love the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force-esque" meatball here...

SUSHI!

I love going to Asian Bistro of Mansfield in between classes.  This is what was on my plate the last time I went!  It's beautiful!  See, just another example of the fact that art can be found anywhere and everywhere!  I highly recommend you try them out if you haven't already.  They're sushi is great, and so is their hibachi grill.  If you go in the afternoon they offer a lunch special between 11:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Saturday.  I usually order the 3 roll special which comes with either miso soup or their house salad with a tangy ginger dressing.  It's a great deal and you can watch them make it right in the same room where you are dining!  I don't always get the fancy designs on the plate but there is usually some sort or sauce art on there!

Bat For Lashes

What's A Girl to Do?
Great song, even better video.  Watch the whole thing.

Stone Guitar Picks

Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

Landscape Jasper

This is really amazing!  I love any kind of stone work, but I thought it was amazing that this company decided to take pieces of stone and make actual, useable guitar pics.  All of this site's stone work is pretty cool (StoneWorks), but I like the guitar pics which you can also purchase a pendant for and wear it as a necklace.

Make-Up Art!

Pretty neat stuff!  I've always been fascinated by make-up, extreme hair styling, etc.  This was just something cool I cam across and thought was very pretty!

LOVE this video.  I actually didn't know it was out already.  I've been an M.I.A. fan since before Paper Planes and Pineapple Express.  Saw her live, held her hand in front of the stage, etc etc...I love her creative spirit and have enjoyed watching her evolve over the years.  I'm really happy to see that having a kid has not slowed her down at all and she's just as sexy and fresh as ever!

Monson Arts Council Art Show

Jim Gambaro Photography
I just happened to drive through down town Monson on Sunday afternoon to see an "ART SHOW TODAY" sign outside of the House of Art, located at 200 Main Street, Monson MA.  Needing a little break from the grind, my boyfriend and I stopped in to the free show and were pleasantly surprised!  I was a little disappointed that we missed out on the catered reception and wine tasting the day before, but the art made up for our loss.  There was a great mix of photography, sculpture, oils, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and some amazing pencil drawings!  I'm pretty excited about my discovery of the House of Art because I'm somewhat new to the area and I don't really know of too much around me that is art related.  Sponsored by local businesses and my favorite art store, Jerry's Artarama, this juried art exhibit was a great end to my weekend!  Here are a few artists I was able to pick up business cards from while I was there.  Click on the image to be redirected to their pages!

I'm a little disappointed in the site for the Monson Arts Council, but hopefully when I get "accepted as a friend" on their Facebook page it will have more information about artists and upcoming events.  I hope to have at least one piece prepared for the next show they hold!

Blue Tree - Art Gallery

I came across this online gallery while just searching for a few pictures of trees(my favorite subject to paint and draw).  Blue Tree Art Gallery offers original works, prints(framed and unframed), as well as greeting cards and calendars.

I'm a big fan of mixed media in general, but these whimsical subjects and playful colors really caught my eye.  As I searched around the site more to learn about the artist, Leah Piken Kolidas, I see that she has also been drawn to trees, and for that reason it is one of her main subject matters, and combining that with her favorite color, blue, she came up with the name for her site gallery.

This site is also great because it offers a large range of art to purchase.  Whether you would like to invest in an original piece for a decent chunk of change, or just would like an "Itty Bitty Kitty" print, starting at only $25.

Duct Tape Art? Duct Tape Art!

Well, this one is new to me!  I thought it was a little strange at first, but then, as I continued to click away and find more, it got pretty cool!  The Youtube.com user, isThatAllDuctTape, has posted some really interesting pieces.  From playful cartoon characters to detailed portraits, and everything in between, these pieces are truly unique.  Definitely worth checking out her Youtube.com site and her other site with all her work, http://wn.com/isThatAllDuctTape

Kitty of Love

My cat just looked so adorable the other day!  Curled up in a little heart shape!  I just had to share!

This site cracked me up today.  I love people that think as randomly as I do.

"Last time a banner ad caught my attention was...................never.

Check it out!  And as it says, "Cher this site."  LOL

Television is a drug.

I love this.  So true.  This video ALMOST makes me want to cancel my cable.  But then how will I be able to watch new episodes of Tosh.O and Mythbusters?  Everything in moderation, I suppose...

Now I'm on a Triptych Kick...

Just searching for abstract triptychs brought me to this as well.   I like the unity of design with the difference in types of design.  The colors are also earthy which is a plus for me.  And, per usual, I'm a sucker for typography...

Love, love, LOVE the design and colors of this triptych!  I really like the extreme  black and orange tones, and the turquoise just throw a little something extra in there.  I also like the size of canvases with an oblong center canvas and two squares.  I feel like it's a spring sunrise, or something.  Obviously this piece has already sold on etsy.com, but still inspiring non-the-less.  My favorite subject to paint and draw is trees, and the colors really make it individual.

I'm really enjoying how random this site is!

Only You

From BristolSouthwestUnited Kingdom, this experimental or trip-hop group has always caught my interest.  This video is great and really matches the mood of the song.  Very erie, smooth flowing beats meld seamlessly with the underwater, slow motion clips.

I really like these patterns.  I tend to enjoy simple patterns and natural colors.  The color combinations might be something I could use for an abstract painting.
